Terrorism fighter Aalbersberg warns: Alertness needed in the Netherlands | ‘Terrorist attack’ Nice

An attack by a Muslim extremist such as in Nice is also not inconceivable in the Netherlands. In response to the events in the French city, the National Coordinator for Counterterrorism and Security (NCTV) Pieter-Jaap Aalbersberg says that alertness in the Netherlands remains necessary. Aalbersberg speaks in a response to terrible reports from France.

Aalbersberg warns that radicalized people can also strike in the Netherlands. The NCTV recently announced that the threat level is three out of five. This means that a terrorist attack in the Netherlands is ‘conceivable’. Attacks in Europe are usually provisional and committed by loners, according to the most recent threat assessment, which is published a few times a year.

At least three people were killed today by one attack by an alleged Muslim extremist in the French coastal city of Nice. Authorities believe the attacker had terrorist motives.

Kabinet

Minister Wopke Hoekstra (Finance) speaks on behalf of the cabinet are disgusted about the deadly knife attack at a church in the southern French city of Nice. “I would like to emphasize once again that we are 100% behind France in the fight against this kind of terror,” said the minister during a parliamentary debate.

“My mind dwells on the hatred and gruesome murderous spirit of this Islamist terrorist,” said Minister Sigrid Kaag (Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation). “My thoughts are with the French. Near the city of Nice, which also received such a terror blow four years ago. In Europe we stand together for our free society. ”
