Tereza Černochová Honors Karel Černoch’s 80th Birthday with a Unique Project

He would have celebrated his eightieth birthday this October. The popular Czech singer Karel Černoch left us forever sixteen years ago. An insidious disease became fatal for him, as the artist lost his battle with colon cancer. He left behind two children – son Marko and daughter Tereza, who inherited her father’s talent and is a successful singer. As the editors of eXtra.cz found out, on the occasion of an important jubilee, Tereza prepared a unique project Karel Černoch 80.

Karel Černoch was one of the most prominent singers on the Czech popular scene in his time. In October, it will be already sixteen years since he left forever in the musical heaven. Although he fought with all his might, he eventually lost his battle with colon cancer. On the occasion of the anniversary, Tereza Černochová comes up with the unique project Karel Černoch 80, and she entrusted the editors of eXtra.cz with more detailed information.

Four spectacular concerts are planned, which will be accompanied by Černochová. The most well-known hits will be performed, such as The ferryman’s lament, She defends herself or Zrcadlo. Visitors can also look forward to a number of star guests – for example, Ondřej Ruml, Helena Vondráčková, Bára Basiková, Marie Rottrová and many others.

Tereza remembers her father every day

Tereza still remembers her father. “Dad left too soon. I remember his songs and velvety voice almost every day. He was unique. And that’s why I would like to remind you too… together with the guests who worked with, were friends with, or were inspired by Karel Černoch.” said the singer’s daughter in an interview for Czech radio.

Before starting his singing career, Karel Černoch worked as a props technician at the Barrandov Film Studio. Jan Werich should have noticed him there. “Listen, you should try singing to people on stage,” should have proposed to him. And so Karel Černoch started his career in the 1960s. He was among the banned artists for several years. His Song of the Earth was seen as a protest against the occupation of Czechoslovakia by Warsaw Pact troops. He returned to the scene only in the 70s, when he distanced himself from the song.

After returning to the music stage, he started collaborating with Jiří Brabec’s Country Beat and the singer Naďa Urbanková. In 1985, he founded the music group Bonton, which he was in for six years. The black man was a multi-talented person – he was not only a great singer, but also a presenter and musical actor. In addition to music, he also performed as a humorist in unforgettable skits with Jiří Wimmer. They were very close friends, but in 2001 Wimmer died in a tragic accident in Prague.

He heard a cruel ortel from the doctors

Since then blow after blow followed. In 2004, he too had a serious car accident, the young musical actor Patrik Stoklasa lost his life. In 2006, Černoch was told by doctors that he had colon cancer. He didn’t give up, he fought like a lion. “You must not tremble before that monster,” said the popular singer. A year later, he left forever in musical heaven.

He left behind two children. While daughter Tereza Černoch is fully devoted to art and is a successful singer who, among other things, shined in StarDance, son Marek Černoch went in a different direction and devotes himself to politics. He had both children with his wife Daša, who was a fatal love for him.
