The meeting according to the Ministry of Health was a form of appreciation from WHO because Minister of Health Terawan was considered successful in handling the corona virus pandemic (Covid-19) in Indonesia.

This was revealed in an invitation letter signed by the Assistant Director General for Emergency Preparedness of WHO Jaouad Mahjour on (30/10) and addressed to Minister Terawan, as quoted CNNIndonesia.com from the Communications and Community Services Bureau of the Ministry of Health RI Widiyawati.

In the invitation, Terawan was invited by WHO along with three health ministers from other countries who were considered successful in dealing with Covid-19. However, it did not say which state ministers were invited. Regarding this, Budi also admitted that he had not received any clearer information.

The invitation stated that tomorrow Terawan would be invited to meet online with WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus. Tedros will listen to input from the ministers regarding actions in handling Covid-19 or an intra-action review (IAR).

“It is in this capacity that we extend an invitation for you to join the press conference of the Director General of WHO, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, and the Ministers of Health from three other countries, and share Indonesia’s experiences in successfully implementing the Covid-19 national IAR,” wrote the message in the invitation. .

In the letter, WHO wants the virtual meeting to be used as a learning space in the strategies and responses of each country in dealing with the Corona virus pandemic. WHO hopes that tomorrow’s agenda will be a reflection of other countries in dealing with this pandemic.

IAR is said to be a place to share experiences because Indonesia is considered successful in handling Covid-19. In the event, it is hoped that the steps taken by Indonesia can be an example to increase the response to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Previously, WHO had published WHO guidelines and tools by conducting the Country Covid-19 IAR on July 23, 2020. Then at the fourth meeting of the IAR Emergency Committee (2005) regarding the Covid-19 outbreak on July 31, 2020, the Committee also issued interim recommendations to countries- countries to share best practices and strategies with WHO.

This meeting was organized by the Director General of WHO and highlighted the importance of continuous collective learning by bringing together relevant stakeholders to critically and systematically analyze actions taken in an emergency response.

In Indonesia, IAR comprehensively covers nine main pillars of overcoming the Covid-19 response, namely command and coordination; risk communication and community empowerment; surveillance, rapid response team and case investigation.

Then the point of entry, international travel, and transportation; laboratory; infection control; case management; operational and logistical support and maintaining essential health systems and services.
