Russia’s Defense Ministry has released a video of another episode showing tensions in the Black Sea region.
A Russian Su-30 fighter jet has been hoisted to escort a US reconnaissance plane that has been spotted approaching Russia’s state border over the sea, Moscow said.
The American plane did not violate the border. However, a fighter jet was lifted into the air by the Southern Military District Air Defense Duty Staff.
The annual Sea Breeze exercise is held in the Black Sea with the participation of the United States, Ukraine and NATO. Russia has called for the exercise to be canceled.
In early July, Russian authorities announced that fighter jets had practiced bombing enemy ships in the Black Sea as part of military exercises. Tensions between Russia and the West have risen over NATO exercises in the region and after a recent incident with the British destroyer Defender.
