Ostapenko, seeded seventh in Adelaide, will start the year ranked 18th in the world, while Pliskova is ranked 31st. The two players have previously met eight times, with Pliskova playing more successfully, winning five matches, including their most recent two in 2021 in Stuttgart and Rome.
