One year after the tragedy in Tempe with 57 dead, what is revealed gives new dimensions to the magnitude of the tragedy and demands answers. A new element has come to light, which if confirmed will be a bomb element.
As incredible as it may seem, there are indications of a “missing” carriage of the commercial train. In particular, according to a report in the STAR news bulletin, in a supplementary technical report by the expert Vassilis Kokotsakis, which was submitted to the appellant investigator of Larisa who is handling the case, two of the relatives of the victims, Mr. Konstantinidis and Mr. Iliopoulos, it is stated that the commercial train had 14 and not 13 wagons, as officially stated. That is, there was an extra wagon.
This wagon was located right after the three open platforms that carried sheet metal and were containers, that is, they were of the closed type. Indeed, according to the same source, “the wagon had not been located as it was blown apart by the explosion at the time of the collision”.
This development adds new questions to this tragic case, such as whether there really is another wagon that is missing “why wasn’t it declared?” and “what was the load of this wagon?”.
And xylene
The new elements, i.e. the “lost” wagon, but also xylene, preoccupy the investigations. Regarding the chemical substance, according to the analyzes of the State General Chemistry, it was found to be 95% pure, which means that there was atophy in a specific area.
It should be noted that the investigations have focused on xylene, as it is possible that it caused the large fire at the time of the collision in Tempe. The relatives of the victims submitted a memorandum to the Appellate Investigator and request that additional prosecution be instituted for manslaughter with possible intent.
They also emphasized that “our country was obliged to have National Safety Rules at least from 2019 but they did not exist”. According to the relatives, what they are interested in is the investigation of the causes that caused the fire and the explosion and that may be responsible for the further increase in the number of victims.
