Team USA leads 11/5 before the singles

Lowry/Hatton battent English/Finau 1up

Shane Lowry and Tyrrel Hatton made a very complementary pair. While the Englishman struggled to get into his game, the Irishman made 5 birdies on the first 10 holes. Things then turned around and Hatton took the game in hand with birdies and miraculous saves to leave the European team ahead. 1up at the start of the 18th and it was finally Shane Lowry who brought in the first point of the afternoon with a 5-meter putt. On the American side, the English / Finau pair were quite solid but not as flamboyant as the day before.

Rahm/Garcia battent Koepka/Spieth 2&1

100% victory for the Spanish pair who brought their 3rd point to the European team in this Ryder Cup. Quickly in the lead, Rahm and Garcia saw Koepka and Spieth return to 13. But it was without counting on the world number 1 who tucked an 8-meter string on the green of 16 just after signing a birdie at 15. Two holes won at the end of the game which allowed Europe to win 2 & 1 against an American team quite nervous like Jordan Spieth and his anger at the start of the game for a story of drop.

Dechambeau / Scheffler battent Fleetwood / Hovland

Much like day one, Fleetwood and Hovland led in this game for a long time before losing. 1up at the start of the 14th, they lost 4 consecutive holes to end up losing 3 & 1. A defeat all the more regrettable as the Scheffler / Dechambeau pair did not show an extremely high level of play. Honorable mention to Bryson Dechambeau and his classy remark on the green of 1 for a putt which he considered to be given to him.

Johnson / Morikawa beat Poulter / McIlroy 4 & 3

Certainly the game with the least suspense (not to say none) of this 2nd session of 4 balls. And yet, Ian Poulter will have tried. The Englishman signed 4 birdies on his card but played on his own this afternoon. His partner of the day Rory McIlroy didn’t make a single birdie and looked completely lost. Enough to leave as much room as possible for Dustin Johnson and Collin Morikawa who at 3up after 8 holes only had to calmly manage their advantage. With this victory, Dustin Johnson becomes the first American to win his first 4 Ryder Cup games since 1979.
