Team Group Showcases PCIe 5.0 SSD With Read Speeds Up To 13GB/s And Capacity Up To 4TB – Computer – News

They are often slower than the older variants (see below for article). If you want to use such a fast port, you actually need a very expensive professional SSD. On the consumer market, you have to pay more attention if you want the best price/quality ratio.

I don’t know if it’s still the case, but in the time that I was looking for the best SSD to buy, I also went for the Samsung 970 Evo Plus. The memory is TLC, and if I remember correctly TLC < QLC < PLC, the more bits per cell, the slower and shorter the lifespan.

TLC is good value for money. Many newer SSDs are basically just slower but are benchmarked and marketed on the speed of the cache. The cache is written to the slower SSD in the background while idle. So you can only write a burst the size of the cache. After that, the speed drops significantly.

This shouldn’t be a problem, like @ArconX up here indicates. Only here on Tweakers I might make it: “…is enough for 80% of people.”

For example, if you work with LOG video, or even a workflow with larger amounts of regular video, you notice that unplanned coffee moments can still arise every day. And if you’re a game developer with large streaming textures, I can imagine that such a cache might not be the best.

Here’s an older article but i think the idea is still the same.
