Taylor Swift thanked her fans for “doing something extraordinary” as her new album broke Spotify’s record for the most listened to album in a single day. The latest offering from the pop megastar, Midnights, was released on Friday.
Less than 24 hours later, the music streaming giant announced online that the album garnered the most streams in a single day in the platform’s history.
“And before the clock could strike midnight on October 22, Taylor Swift broke the record for the most listened to single-day album in Spotify history. Congratulations, taylorswift13,” the platform’s official account tweeted.
Reacting to the news, Swift wrote: “How was I so lucky to have you here doing something so extraordinary? What happened ?!”
Swift took fans by surprise when she announced the new album in the closing moments of the 2022 MTV VMAs in New Jersey in August.
He described the album as the story of “13 sleepless nights throughout my life” and “a journey through terror and sweet dreams”.
