Taylor Swift proved that everything new is really well forgotten old

The singer conquered the music charts with past hits, but in a new arrangement

Taylor Swift breathed new life into her 2008 and 2012 albums, which once again conquered the world music charts.

The most recent production of the singer is the reissued in early November version “Red (Taylor’s Version)” of the iconic eponymous tray, which first appeared on the music market in 2012. As nine years ago, she again managed to climb to the top on the most prestigious charts.

Immediately after the release of “Red (Taylor’s Version)”, the singer topped the chart for “Billboard” albums.

“Red (Taylor’s Version)” contains 30 songs, including joint performances with Ed Sheeran, Chris Stapleton and Phoebe Bridgers. The artist has included all the songs planned for the 2012 version, but dropped in the selection.

For the first time you will hear all 30 songs prepared for “Red” … And one of them lasts ten minutes.“Swift announced, talking about” All Too Well “, for which a short film was made.

The songs in the reissued version stick to the original for the most part, but Taylor’s voice sounds different – it seems that she is no longer the teenager from Reading, Pennsylvania. This can be heard in the April issue of “Fearless”, which delighted fans of the singer for the first time in 2008. Her most successful album has sold more than seven million copies worldwide.

The new version of “Fearless (Taylor’s Version)” also reaped great success in the spring and topped the charts. It contains 26 songs, including 13 original tracks, bonus singles and six others that were made for the original album but have not yet been recorded or released. The album topped the Billboard charts for 11 weeks, albeit inconsistently.

Why did a singer of the rank of the blonde, who won 11 Grammy Awards, set out to re-release her old albums instead of preparing a completely new production?

The answer is: because of a copyright dispute with the music label, with which the singer decided to end the relationship in late 2018. The separation was initially quite civilized, but a sharp conflict erupted after it became clear that the copyright on the biggest hits of Taylor Swift has been sold to an investment fund for between $ 300 million and $ 400 million. She tried to redeem them, but without success.

This happens when you sign a 15-year contract with someone for whom the word “loyalty” is obviously just a contractual concept. And when this person says “music has value”, he thinks that its value is due to people who did not participate in its creation.“, the singer wrote in her profile on Tumbler.

And Taylor Swift decided to re-release her first albums. She devoted herself entirely to this, and within half a year managed to release new versions of “Fearless” and “Red”, going back to the top of the charts.

Of course, there is a purely financial interest in the star’s decision, experts from the music industry commented to the American media, BTA writes. The re-release of the singer’s work is one of the ways to at least partially secure revenue from broadcasts and sales of songs and albums she made before 2019. Swift expressed hope that her many fans will listen to productions containing in her name “Taylor’s Version “, not the old ones.

After “Fearless” and “Red”, the American singer plans to re-release “Speak Now” (2010), “1989” (2014) and “Reputation” (2017). And it probably won’t be long before they are released, as the new versions of the two old albums have once again reached the top of the music charts.
