Tatyana Doncheva: It is not possible to present a political structure of Payant for a broad left-wing coalition – 2024-05-04 13:16:40

/ world today news/ BSP needs real, not adopted partners. In the Blue Coalition, Ivan Kostov and Martin Dimitrov were co-chairmen – perhaps he had less ego?

– Mrs. Doncheva, you turned out to be the most desirable partner in recent days. Why did you choose Maya Manolova over Cornelia Ninova?

– This is not a simple task. Generally speaking, the broad left coalition was not a coalition at first.

– What was it?

– Any engagement agreements that do not constitute a coalition, do not justify common decisions on the issues we will work for, and

they can’t even

be counted

of “Movement

21” as participation

in elections

nor do they give him a reason to receive a subsidy. In my imagination, one can indeed work to form a center-left entity, but it cannot become ad hoc, nor so quickly.

– Why?

– There are many reasons. In one part, they are of a complex technical nature, but in their more serious part, they are related to a misunderstanding of the need for such a subject. If the BSP wants to be the initiator of such a process, which would suit it as the party with the longest history, it should be done firmly enough. It is not possible to call a political construction a broad coalition and serve other than PR purposes that have nothing to do with political efficiency and rationality.

– Now, however, it seems to be understandable – there was not much time for negotiations and the reformation of the left coalition for these elections. After ABV and Kadiev accepted, so it’s not such a problem?

– If you need a pop-up building – make it yourself. But me, if I don’t need a pendant building and this is clear to me – why should I do it? A politician must have a clear vision and direction, clearly articulated principles and a firm grip to hold both direction and principles. In modern Bulgarian politics, there are not so many people who had the opportunity and freedom to make decisions. If I am one of them, that is dignity in politics. In these times, old-school politicians who can negotiate and make alliances, can construct governance, are long gone. I am one of the few who studied at this old school.

– Speaking of principles – you stated that you do not wish to be in a coalition with the so-called poisonous trio, but you’re back together. What happened to change your position?

– I have said why for me the coalition with the trio is undesirable – for reasons that give the public the impression that our union is something that can fall apart at any moment and everyone is pulling somewhere. And it is in everyone’s interest

to create

impression that

we are serious

people

who know where they are going and how they are doing it. The compromise includes an element of the equation so that the “trio” cannot block the group or break it up.

– Did you write down conditions that they will not split, or…?

– We have agreed on such ratios of places, which to a high degree ensure such a result. Of course, in politics, everyone has the right to draw conclusions from actions they have taken and which may not have turned out to be the most successful, to make their own corrections. And if these buffers don’t have to be used, it would be best.

– Is the road to BSP finally closed?

– Nothing is definitively closed in a political one

situation in

the country in which

is emerging

new strongly

fragmented

parliament

It will be perhaps in other ratios, but the task will not be easier. And gathering a majority to form a government, to push through key decisions and adopt key bills, to lead it stably in a longer period requires having very good relations with all formations outside GERB.

– However, wasn’t it better to achieve this unification on the left, so that there would be a stronger representation of the left in the parliament?

– The unification of the left is a process that is objectively necessary and will proceed regardless of personalities. Of course, stabilizing the BSP is an important element of the equation. It also includes partnerships, not necessarily with “Movement 21”, but the opening of the BSP to the center is mandatory. This means rethinking within the party itself – not only by the leadership, but also by the broadest members, what is the place of the BSP – the need to build real partnerships. For 30 years, the BSP has not been in a situation where it needed real partners. There is a coalition there, which has always been a coalition, but not quite – the partners are rather adopted – you give them one electoral seat and a little subsidy and everything is okay, they are happy that they will be represented in parliament. No, BSP needs real partners.

For example, I did not know until recently that in the Blue Coalition Ivan Kostov and Martin Dimitrov were co-presidents and only represented it together. As long as Ivan Kostov, with all his reputation, can accept Martin Dimitrov, who was then very young, quite a beginner… I do not believe that Ivan Kostov has less ego, nor that he and his fellow party members did not think that they were where- where greater, however, there are more important things and more important interests. The real thing

partnership no

may

includes only

gathering of

the guides,

signing a piece of paper and waving it around the media. Follow “Syriza” how they did the big left consolidation – they did it for more than a year. It started with elections in which 70% of the seats on the list were given to people outside the party. When would someone in the BSP think of such a thing? So there is a long way to go. It cannot be shortened and cannot be replaced by PR exercises. When a building is made, there are rules – it is dug, foundations are poured, it is built according to the rules, and this cannot but give results.
