Tanker Collision on Russian Lena River Results in State of Emergency and Gasoline Spill

Tankers TR-901 and TR-900 collided in Russia* on the Lena River in the Irkutsk region. One of them was carrying 832 tons of gasoline. As a result of the incident, a state of emergency was introduced in the region.

Local governor Igor Kobzev noted that the volume of oil products that got into the river after the collision of tankers is being specified. The situation is greatly complicated by the fact that the Lena is a navigable river.

“We have introduced an emergency regime. We have booms and sorbents available. The river is navigable, and, in addition, settlements are located downstream,” Kobzev emphasized.

According to him, as a result of the collision of the Erofei Khabarov tanker, one of the tanks, which contained 138 tons of gasoline, was damaged. Fuel flows into the river. The governor added that at the moment a boom has been installed around the vessel, and 300 kg of sorbent have also been used.

In addition, a large-scale fire broke out in the Russian city of Krasnodar on the morning of June 13. According to preliminary data, an oil depot near the Yablonevsky bridge is on fire. Black thick smoke is visible at a distance of several kilometers. The exact cause of the fire is still unknown.

As previously reported by Cursor, on the night of June 13, the Russian Federation once again fired at Ukraine. This time the rockets hit residential buildings in Krivoy Rog. A five-story building was destroyed, as of 10:30 am, 6 victims are known. People remain under the rubble.
