Tamás Gyárfás was sentenced to seven years in prison, and then quickly registered his company in his wife’s name

The court found Tamas Gyárfás guilty in the first instance of being an accessory to the murder committed as an accomplice to Tamás Portik, he was convicted, and then he registered his company with assets of half a billion forints and own capital of 377 million forints in the name of his wife.

Tamás Gyárfás no longer has a business, as the former media czar, the former owner of Nap TV, registered the St. Plusz Könyv- és Lapkiadó Data Processing and Printing Kft. company to his wife on March 8, – wrote the mfor.hu.

There is obviously a connection between the company transfer and the fact that on February 8, the Capital Court sentenced Gyárfás, the former president of the Hungarian Swimming Association, to seven years in prison. Tamás Gyárfás was found guilty of manslaughter as an accessory and Tamás Portik as an instigator in the murder of János Fenyő. A first-instance verdict was issued in the case, against which the lawyers appealed, so it is not legally binding.

According to the hvg article, between 2010 and 2014, the company’s total export sales revenue, according to public company data, suddenly increased from zero to more than HUF 474 million. It was a secret in the paper how the company of Tamás Gyárfás could work together with FINA. One thing is certain: between 2011 and 2014, St. Plus Kft.’s operating profit was always in the red. Also in 2022, according to its last available report, the company had an income of HUF 59 million that year, but this was only enough for a loss of HUF 46.6 million.

However, it has assets of half a billion forints and own capital of 377 million forints. Gyárfás is no longer the owner of the company, but he is still its managing director.
