Tallink will resume ferry traffic between Riga and Stockholm in April / Article

Tallink will also resume passenger ferries on the Tallinn-Stockholm route from Friday. This became possible after Sweden lifted restrictions on Covid-19 on 9 February. The Estonian Radio and Television website reports that the route will initially be served by one ship, the Baltic Queen, which will depart every other day. More frequent flights are planned in late March and early April.

There will also be 22-hour night cruises on the Helsinki-Tallinn-Helsinki route in April.

In the meantime, our country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls on immigrants in Sweden to follow the instructions of the authorities regarding preventive measures to limit the spread of Covid-19 infection. Persons with symptoms of infection should stay at home and avoid contact. You can enter Finland on presentation of a Covid-19 certificate or a document certifying that you have been ill with Covid-19 during the last six months. This requirement does not apply to children under 15 years of age.

CONTEXT:

The Covid-19 pandemic severely damaged the tourism industry and international transport. Ferry traffic and the Estonian ferry operator Tallink also suffered. For example, the number of employees had to be reduced to just over 3,900.

Regular passenger ferry services between Riga and Stockholm, provided by Tallink Group with two ferries – “Romantika” and “Isabelle”, were stopped at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020.

In 2021, the ferry operator Tallink Grupp carried a total of 2,961,975 passengers on all routes, which is 20.6% less than in 2020.

The company’s shares are listed on the official list of the Tallinn Stock Exchange. The largest shareholder of Tallink Grupp is the Estonian investment company Infortar, which owns 39% of Tallink Grupp.
