Take note! New restrictions on Covid-19 – Society and Politics – News come into force today

From Monday, October 26, restrictions such as:

  • public events indoors will be allowed to gather up to 300 people in total – the event must have personalized seating and use a face mask;
  • by 15 November, indoor leisure facilities for children, such as amusement and amusement centers, children’s playrooms, trampoline parks and babysitting rooms, including shopping centers, shall cease to operate;
  • until 15 November, the acquisition of higher education study programs takes place remotely, except for the acquisition of the practical part and clinical practice in the residency.

The government has also decided that face masks will be mandatory in all indoor public places, including events with fixed seating, such as theaters, cinemas and the like. This means that masks will have to be used at service points in both public and municipal institutions and private companies.

The requirement to use masks does not apply to educational institutions. There is also an exception where the use of masks is not possible, such as in swimming pools and sports, as well as during facials and similar situations.

Regarding bars, cafes, restaurants, the VM points out that the face mask can be taken off when a person is sitting at his table, eating and drinking. On the other hand, when you go to place an order, wait in line, move around the room, a face mask is a must.

Employees of these places also have to wear face masks or shields, such as waiters and bartenders.

Other provisions of the regulations related to restrictions on gathering at places of religious activity have also been clarified.

It has already been reported that on Saturday, October 24, 211 new cases of Covid-19 infection were detected in Latvia. 4458 Covid-19 examinations were performed, 211 new cases of infection were registered, two persons died (in the age group from 75 to 85).

Most new cases of the disease were registered in Riga, where 88 patients were diagnosed. In total, 931 new cases have been registered in the capital in the last 14 days. 22 new patients have been registered in Daugavpils, where the total number of patients in the last two weeks is now 180 people.

Yesterday, 14 new infections were registered in Cēsis region, where the number of patients has reached 25 in the last two weeks.
