– While the conflict between China and Taiwan over the’one China’ is escalating, Taiwan unveiled a new passport with a large reduction in CHINA (Chinese) characters.

According to the Bingu Daily News on the 12th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan drastically reduced the notation of’REPUBLIC OF CHINA’, the English name of the Republic of China on the previous day’s passport cover, and placed it around the flag emblem, and created a new passport that expanded the existing TAIWAN font. Officially issued.

Existing’REPUBLIC OF CHINA’ was placed in small letters around the insignia of the Taiwan flag. If you don’t look closely, you don’t know if it was written.

During a visit to the consular office, which is a department in charge of passport-related affairs, the day before, Wu Jiao-she (吳釗燮), the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan, explained that the new passport retained the elements of the existing passport and expanded the TAIWAN letter to strengthen Taiwan’s discrimination.

Following that, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and others notified the issuance of new passports to countries around the world, and requested the International Air Transport Association (IATA) to cooperate, adding that there will be no problem when traveling with a new passport.

Taiwanese media reported that the new passport was newly designed to reduce confusion with Chinese passports and emphasize Taiwan’s identity, enhancing discrimination and receiving 2381 applications for issuance the day before.

Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that it is possible to reissue an existing passport with a new passport regardless of the validity period.

Taiwan’s Kijin Party’s legislative committee member Chen Bowei (member of the National Assembly) said that the change in the cover of the passport has now begun to take small steps, allowing the world to recognize Taiwan. He also emphasized that the new passport is an expression of the sovereignty of the country, the collective consciousness of the people, and the pride of all.

Regarding this, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Hua Chun-ying said, “It is not important what small movement Taiwan has made,” regarding the passport design change. “It will not change the fact that Taiwan is part of China.”

Meanwhile, in a poll conducted after President Chai, who pursued an independent route against China, succeeded in serving a second term, it was found that two out of three Taiwanese regarded themselves as’Taiwanese’ rather than’Chinese’.
