T-Mobile will start shutting down its 3G network on October 1, and will end its entire operation in November

The switch-off of third-generation mobile networks continues. T-Mobile announced that On October 1, it will start switching off 3G on transmitters in Moravia and will end its operation by the end of November 3G networks.

The operator will thus release the 2100 MHz frequency, which it will be able to use for the development of 5G networks. According to T-Mobile, less than 1 percent of customers use 3G today. “The oldest phones without a connection to the mobile Internet will continue to use the 2G network for voice calls and SMS messages, which remains in full operation,” the operator assures.

“Our customers will not feel the negative switch-off of the 3G network, because its role was taken over by the LTE (4G) network a long time ago. For operators, however, the release of the 2,100 MHz band is very important for the further development of the state-of-the-art 5G high-speed network, ”adds the INS and Fix product management manager of T-Mobile Zdeněk Bumbálek.

Competitive Vodafone shut down its 3G networks at the end of March this year. Operator O2 terminated the operation of part of its 3G networks in May, the rest is to be turned off by the end of November.
