Syphilis Incidence in Ulyanovsk Region Increases by 40%: New Report from Ulyanovskstat

Over the year, the incidence of syphilis in the Ulyanovsk region increased by 40%

Ulyanovskstat published a new report on the incidence of infectious and parasitic diseases in the region’s population.

According to the Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology of the Ulyanovsk Region, in the first ten months of this year, syphilis was diagnosed in 28 residents of the region, which is 40% more than a year ago. The incidence of gonorrhea increased by 33%, viral hepatitis – by 23%, HIV – by 22%.

Ulyanovsk residents began to get the flu 5.8 times more often. 382 cases have been officially confirmed. Ulyanovsk residents began to suffer from hemorrhagic fever 1.8 times more often – 87 cases have been registered since the beginning of the year. Meningitis also began to increase – over ten months the incidence increased by 1.7 times. The diagnosis was confirmed in five patients. The number of cases of tuberculosis increased by 27.5%. The number of acute intestinal infections increased by 17%.

There is good news: the number of patients suffering from acute respiratory tract infections has decreased by 32%.
