The festivals Swinging Montpellier dedicated to music and swing dances returns for a 4th edition full of novelties from the July 21 to 23. An additional evening is added on Sunday and the program is enriched with numerous appointments. Among them, a conference on the history of Jazz swing and the opening of a musicality class and a jazz solo class for 8-14 year olds.
Under the shaded alleys of the alleys of Peyrou, a new website will be installed with the arrival of the international choreographer from Montpellier at the artistic direction Remy Kouakou Kouame as artistic director. The dancer will be keen to represent the African-American heritage.
The festival remains faithful to its desire to share with the public. Many appointments, large part free, which have become essential as the editions come back, such as balls under the stars, free introductions to swing dances, the guinguette, the jazz village and the invitation of 6 international dancers who will perform during the 3 evenings . Invitations that confirm the international dimension of the festival. As a reminder, 17 nationalities were represented in 2022.
The festival is an intergenerational meeting through these musical re-interpretations that made our grandparents vibrate and which today conquer the hearts of more and more young people. This year 6000 visitors and 600 dancers are expected over the 3 days where 5 out of 6 concerts will be free.
