Swimming pools, sports halls, training courses, walks and sports activities: here are all the measures to be observed from July 1

Phase 4 of the deconfinement of Belgium, a process started at the beginning of May, will take effect on July 1, as announced by Prime Minister Sophie Wilmès on Wednesday after the meeting of the National Council of Security (CNS).

This phase allows the reopening of swimming pools, as well as a relaxation of the measures in terms of sports practice. The sectors concerned were awaiting clarification and clear protocols. These were transmitted by the cabinet of Valérie Glatigny, the Minister of Sports in the Wallonia-Brussels Federation.

“We are going to have a real sports summer, and this is excellent news! The health crisis has once again demonstrated to us the importance of sport for physical and mental well-being. Here are the protocols established for the different sectors:

  • The swimming pools will have to set up a reservation system on the basis of an hourly schedule and a counting system could be envisaged
  • Circuits to manage the comings and goings must be installed
  • It will be necessary to establish a zone for depositing bags and personal effects elsewhere than at the edge of the basin

FITNESS ROOMS: 6 golden rules must be observed (click here for full protocol)

  • For the comfort of users and respect for social distances, it is recommended to set up a reservation system
  • Users must have their own towel during their training
  • A distance of 1.50 m between the fitness equipment used must be provided
  • Users must disinfect machines and machines before and after each use

INDOOR SPORTS PRACTICE: some specific measures (click here for full protocol)

  • A changing room or changing rooms can be shared by people in the same bubble (max 50 people)
  • Cafeterias / refreshment stalls can open according to Horeca recommendations
  • Trainings and courses cannot exceed a group of maximum 50 people, including trainer (s), per sports area
  • The instructor who supervises several groups of 50 participants / week must maintain a minimum distance of 5m from the participants or be equipped with protective equipment (mask, visor, plexiglass screen, etc.)

OUTDOOR SPORTS PRACTICE: some specific measures (click here for full protocol)

  • All sports activities (with and without contact) are authorized regardless of the age of the participant
  • Toilets, dispensers, and DEA must remain accessible
  • Competitions (with and without contact) can resume with an audience
  • A cloakroom is occupied by members of the same team
  • A changing room or changing rooms can be shared by people in the same bubble (max 50 people)
  • Cleaning and disinfection of changing rooms and showers must be performed between each shift

ORGANIZATION OF SPORTS EVENTS: some specific measures (click here for full protocol)

  • It is recommended to contact the competent municipal authorities beforehand.
  • There is no limit to the number of participating athletes
  • As far as possible, the organizer makes sure to set up a spread management system for his sporting event (staggered start, etc.)
  • Depending on the space available, an event can welcome a maximum of 400 spectators until July 31 inclusive and a maximum of 800 people from August 1
  • The notion of public does not include athletes and their staff
  • The notion of public does not include the people necessary for the organization who, as far as possible, respect social distances
  • The rules of social distancing must be respected within the public except for people from the same bubble

ADEPS MARKET ORGANIZATIONS: some specific measures (click here for full protocol)

  • The organization of the event will be subject to the authorization of the competent municipal authorities
  • There is no limit to the number of participating athletes
  • If the rules of social distancing cannot be respected, volunteers are strongly recommended to wear a mask
  • The secretariat of the march must be organized in such a way as to respect the social distancing which is de rigueur in these circumstances.
  • At the reception, no participation card will be distributed to walkers and no sale of Adeps equipment will be offered

ORGANIZATION OF SPORTS COURSES: some specific measures (click here for full protocol)

  • Resumption of all sports courses (boarding school) subject to the authorization of the competent municipal authorities
  • If you have symptoms, stop your activity immediately. 14 days after the first symptoms AND 72 hours after the disappearance of the last symptoms, you no longer present a risk of contamination
  • During these courses, the activity groups will be a maximum of 50 athletes, including instructor (s)
  • The bubble of 50 people must be maintained throughout the duration of the internship
  • The bubbles cannot mix, maximum one bubble per sports area
  • When a structure has several sports platforms, a full physical separation of at least 1.80m in height and over the entire length common to the surfaces must be provided
  • A list of all participants and supervisors must be kept to allow tracing in the event of infection
  • A contact person is designated and their identification is made public so that customers and staff can report possible contamination by the COVID-19 coronavirus in order to facilitate contact tracing.
