Carl Philip will be attending the celebration of the 100th edition of Vasaloppet, a cross-country skiing competition held annually in Sweden on Friday evening. The 90-kilometer trek from Sälen to Mora is the longest of its kind.
Vasaloppet is held in memory of Gustavus Vasa. The former king of Sweden made the trip on skis when he fled from the Danes.
The anniversary celebration takes place in a church building in the Swedish town of Mora. Prince Carl Philip will speak at the celebration. This year’s cross-country race is on Sunday, March 6.
