Swedish metal guitarist dead

Swedish metal guitarist David Andersson has died at the age of 47.

This is what bandmates of the melodic death metal band Soilwork write on Facebook.

“It is with deep sadness that today we can bring you the terrible news of David Andersson’s death. He was an exceptional man, kind and brilliant in so many ways,” the bandmates write on Facebook.

– Will miss you

Andersson also played in the Swedish hard rock band The Night Flight Orchestra, which he did alongside Soilwork singer Björn Strid.

‘Good night, dear doctor. I hope you have found peace. We will miss you so much, ”says an update from the band.

Soilwork was founded in the mid 90’s in Gothenburg, but it wasn’t until 2012 that Andersson joined the band. By then he had already been on tour with the band on and off since 2006.

He was a doctor

He took part in the recording of four albums with the band, of which the most recent, “Övergivenheten”, was released earlier this year.

“He has been our guitarist for more than 10 years and has been a huge influence on Soilwork’s musical journey in the future. Unfortunately, alcohol and mental illness have taken him away from us,” Soilwork writes on Facebook.

The road to rock star life was quite long for Andersson. In an interview with Hardrock Haven in 2020, Andersson explained that he tried to become a rock musician in his early 20s, but that he didn’t take off right away, he writes. Blabbermouth.

– I gave up on music and became a doctor, but in 2006 I got a chance to start playing with Soilwork, and then my career got a fresh start, Andresson said.

Again on May 7 this year, Andersson played his last concert in Norway, when Soilwork took the stage during the Karmøygeddon metal festival.
