Sweden will send additional equipment for the care of Covid-19 patients to Latvia – in Latvia – News

The Prime Minister of Sweden, Stefan Leefven, has announced such assistance to the Prime Minister of Latvia, Krišjānis Kariņš (JV), at the EU summit in Brussels.

As reported, registered in Latvia last day 2932 new cases of Covid-19 and reports of the deaths of 26 Covid-19 patients have been received, thus 3,018 Covid-19-infected people have died in Latvia so far, according to data compiled by the Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (SPKC).

With the large number of cases, the two-week cumulative indicator of morbidity continues to rise rapidly – during the day it has increased from 1539.2 to 1605.9 cases per 100,000 population, which is the highest indicator registered in Latvia so far.

With the cumulative Covid-19 morbidity rate increasing to 1605.9, Latvia has achieved the highest Covid-19 morbidity rate in the Baltics during the entire pandemic period. To date, the highest level of Covid-19 infection in the Baltics was recorded on March 18 in Estonia, where it reached 1,553.1 cases per 100,000 population. In Lithuania, the highest incidence of Covid-19 was found at the end of last year, when on December 24, there were 1431.7 cases per 100,000 population in Lithuania.

Latvia had previously managed to avoid such high levels of illness as in neighboring countries, and the highest level of illness was recorded on January 9, when it reached 693.9 infected per 100,000 population. However, this Latvian “record” fell on October 12, and now every day in Latvia a new highest level of morbidity is reached.
