Sweden – Russia 4: 2, the Swedes beat the Russians, the Czechs will not win Karjala

After the 4: 1 triumph over the Czech Republic, the Swedish hockey players won the Karjala tournament and over Russia, which they defeated 4: 2 in Helsinki. The Czech national team, led by coach Filip Pešán, already knows before the matches with Finland and Russia that even a six-point gain will not be enough for the overall championship in the inaugural tournament of the Euro Hockey Tour series in the Olympic season. The young team is without a point, even though she bravely resisted her favorite and in the first half of the match she managed to equalize twice. Striker Carl Klingberg scored two winners.

The Russian team, which was replaced by Sergei Zubov after a sudden departure by head coach Oleg Brataš, kept up with the Swedes for a long time. Thanks to goalkeeper Askarov, who eliminated Frederik Olofsson’s solo after six minutes, who was able to take advantage of the Russians’ huge mistake in passing on their own blue line. The Swedes also had a numerical advantage, and soon after it ended, Bengtsson opened the score with a close.

Only 77 seconds passed from the second period and it was tied thanks to Mičkov’s show goal. The huge Russian talent, who will only celebrate his 17th birthday in a month, quickly picked up the rebound behind the Swedish goal on the blade and caught Lindvall with a floorball finish. Mičkov became the youngest scorer in the history of the Russian national team. He set the record for Ovekkin, who established himself in 2003 at the age of 17 and 11 months.
