Sweden had its first day without Covid deaths since March

This was announced by the national health authority on Sunday. According to official figures, a total of 4,400 people have died in the Scandinavian country as a result of the pandemic since March 11, and around 37,500 people were reported to be infected.

The relatively high number – measured by ten million inhabitants – is mainly due to infections in nursing homes in and around the capital Stockholm, it is said. Around three quarters of the fatalities were elderly people who needed care.

Sweden went a special way in the pandemic without any exit restrictions. The schools for children under 16 remained open, as did cafes, bars, restaurants and shops. People are only asked to comply with the distance regulations on their own responsibility.
