TVShe has been out of the public eye for a while, but Susan Boyle surprised the audience and viewers of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ with a performance at the final. The 62-year-old singer, who became world famous in 2009 thanks to her audition in the popular talent show, also revealed that she has to fight against health problems.
During the finale, Susan Boyle was allowed to perform her iconic audition number ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ from the musical ‘Les Misérables’, together with the cast of the West End production. It was with that song that she made the public’s mouths fall open 14 years ago.
The performance proved to be a personal triumph for Boyle, who recently struggled with health issues, she said: “It feels great to be here. It’s extra special for me as I suffered a mild stroke in April and I’ve been fighting to get back on the podium. And I made it!”

Juror Simon Cowell, who discovered Susan Boyle and has always been a great support to her, was touched: “Susan, I knew you were ill, but if anyone was going to come back, it would be you. It wouldn’t be the same without you.”
It is not the first time Boyle has had health problems. After her appearance on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ her village was stormed by fans and paparazzi. It took her by surprise to such an extent that she ended up in the hospital exhausted just one day later. In 2016 she was told that she also suffers from type 2 diabetes. “I had to stop eating cakes and cookies immediately. When I heard that, I cursed quite a bit. (laughs) But look, it does make me a lot lighter than a year ago.”
She may have been less in the spotlight in recent years, but Susan has not been idle professionally: she is now the manager of four companies that manage the income from her records, concerts and TV appearances. Good for about two million euros annually. Her total assets are estimated to amount to just under 37 million euros. Yet she has not floated by the great wealth: she even lives again in her unglamorous parental home, together with her cat Pebbles. “It’s important to stay close to your roots,” she said in ‘OK! Magazine’. She recently bought the neighbour’s house and renovated the two houses into a larger whole.
