Mathias, Oscar, Adam and Selma take their shoes off. They take an oval ball and multiply the passes. No crampons or mouth guards on the program. Feet in the sand, these teenagers from the Le Lierre social center let off steam, run, shout. They are introduced to beach rugby, under the gaze of members of the local rugby association Stanislas Sevens. “I knew rugby. On the sand, it’s new. I love it,” exclaims Oscar Pierret.

66 activity slots offered
From Monday July 11 to July 29, the City of Thionville, in partnership with the Department of Moselle, as part of Moselle Youth, offers all teenagers from 11 to 17 years old, many activities free of charge. Every day, except weekends, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m., at least one event is organized by one of the 14 local associations involved in the project, on the site on the banks of the Moselle, behind the Nest theatre. Like beach rugby or wheelchair basketball. “With wheelchair basketball, we want to make young people aware of disability, through sport,” says Arthur Pereira, president of the Thionvilloise Handisport Association. The program can be found on the City’s website.
