According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple will be its upcoming smartphone the iPhone 12 series no longer include chargers. Apple will also do without headphones in the scope of delivery, but this is not a surprise, but has been predicted in the rumor mill for some time.
Accordingly, Apple will release a new 20 watt charger, but will sell it separately. It should be identical in size to current models with 18 watts and offer USB-C power delivery for quick charging. Why is Apple taking this step? Well, the production costs of the iPhone 12 should be significantly higher than those of the iPhone 11, since all models will probably bring 5G.
Apple would like to keep the price recommendations as identical as possible to the previous year – throwing the headphones and the power supply out of the scope of delivery appears to be a suitable way. Marketing will probably try to present this step as environmentally friendly, as many existing customers already have a suitable power supply unit.
Accordingly, the new iPhone 12 of 2020 would essentially only be accompanied by a suitable charging and data cable. But remember: these are just rumors at the moment. Apple itself is of course silent on such reports.
