Supporting Greece after the fire in the asylum camp, Latvia will take blankets and stretchers there

According to the Ministry of the Interior (MoI), 300 stretchers and 3,000 blankets from the state’s material reserves will be delivered to Greece.

Expenditure of about 80,000 euros for the reconstruction and transportation of state material reserves used for humanitarian aid is planned to be covered from the budget program “Contingency Funds”.

The ministry explains that on the evening of September 8, Greece in the largest asylum camp “Moria” A devastating fire broke out on the island of Lesbos, which almost completely destroyed it. Although there are no dead or injured, some 13,000 people in the camp have been left homeless.

Even before the fire, the camp accommodation was overcrowded and access to food, water, sanitation and health care was restricted.
