Supplementary parents are tired of waiting: “This hurts” Inland

The letter writers are tired of having to wait until they hear something from the tax authorities, ring the bell themselves and the communication that exists is via standard letters. “Again we have to call and ask the Tax Authorities if we are being seen. This hurts, we relive all those times when the door was closed ”, the parents write. A standard letter that was sent to victims last week because they had to wait longer for their files was hard hit. “We have received standard letters for years, this was really a slap in the face.”

The letter was signed by nearly thirty victims. In recent years, they have been crushed by the tax authorities, who wrongly labeled them as childcare allowance fraudsters and subsequently claimed back tens of thousands of euros from them. The affair killed State Secretary Snel.

Reimbursement is not forthcoming

He was succeeded by D66’s Vijlbrief and Van Huffelen, the latter of whom would take care of the supplementary parents. The cabinet allocated half a billion euros for the coming years to compensate the parents.

However, according to the parents, it is still unclear how this will happen: “We are now reliving the distant and bureaucratic treatment of the Tax and Customs Administration. The contacts we have cannot give us the answers we are looking for. And now our courage sinks into our shoes. ”

Blundering service

After Snel stepped up, the Tax and Customs Administration came into existence in a negative light several times. For example, there appeared to be a blacklist that went against privacy legislation. The tax authorities also had to intervene because people’s second nationality was used as a criterion in detecting fraudsters.

Van Huffelen adds Tuesday evening On 1 having read the parents’ letter and fully understanding their concerns. “Because these people have been waiting a long time. I also do my very best for them. It has to be done quickly, but it is a huge job. Suddenly getting it done, that will not work. We are going to work very hard and do our best to help people as soon as possible. ”
