The letter was signed by nearly thirty victims. In recent years, they have been crushed by the tax authorities, who wrongly labeled them as childcare allowance fraudsters and subsequently claimed back tens of thousands of euros from them. The affair killed State Secretary Snel.

Reimbursement is not forthcoming

Blundering service

After Snel stepped up, the Tax and Customs Administration came into existence in a negative light several times. For example, there appeared to be a blacklist that went against privacy legislation. The tax authorities also had to intervene because people’s second nationality was used as a criterion in detecting fraudsters.
