Supervisors start investigation into patent infringement at Philips | NOW

American regulators are starting an investigation into the possible patent infringement of, among others, Fitbit and Garmin on wearable products from producer Philips.

Philips believes that several companies are guilty of violating the company’s intellectual property rights in the North American wearable market.

In a letter to the American authorities, the Dutch company asks for rates and an import ban for the various companies.

In addition to companies Garmin and Fitbit suspected by Philips of patent infringement, American commercial regulators are also investigating other companies in the wearable market such as the American Ingram Micro and the Chinese Maintek Computer.

Wearables, such as the Health Watch, have recently become popular with consumers. Through these health products, users can keep track of their physical activities and other health indicators.
