Super typhoon Haishen left Japan on Monday morning and is on its way to the coast of South Korea. 440,000 homes are without power and 32 people have been injured. In South Korea, a thousand people have been evacuated so far.
Haishen brings gusty winds of 144 kilometers per hour to the South Korean city of Busan. 5,000 homes in the southern tip of the country are already without electricity and 473 millimeters of rain has fallen since Saturday. More than three hundred flights from ten airports have been canceled. In addition, the South Korean government has closed national parks and temporarily suspended train services.
Southeast Asia was hit a few days ago by Typhoon Maysak, which claimed two lives and left thousands of people without power.
The typhoon arrived in Japan earlier on Sunday, forcing nearly two million people to leave their homes.32 people have been injured in Japan as a result of Haishen. For example, a woman fell down a staircase in the dark and four people were injured because the glass windows of an evacuation center were broken by the wind.

Search for cargo ship missing in Japan halted
Typhoon Maysak caused problems last week for a freighter with 42 people and 5,800 cows on board. The ship sent Wednesday a distress signal and then disappeared from the radar. The Japanese Coast Guard has so far removed three crew members from the water. One of them died shortly after his rescue.
The search for the cargo ship became Saturday discontinued due to bad weather associated with Typhoon Haishen. As soon as the weather permits, the search for the ship will resume. The Japanese coast guard announced on Monday that it is not yet known when the search will start again.
