As you can see at The Verge notifies, Twitter plans to expand its features with two functions called Super Followers and Communities. The latter are a kind of interest groups that you can join as a Twitter user or open up your own, depending on your taste. The whole thing is very reminiscent of the Facebook groups, you can just better exchange ideas with like-minded people.
The Super Followers, however, have a different goal. Here you can let your followers become super followers by paying you a monthly fee via an internal Twitter system, from which the company will of course also take a certain amount of money. It is not yet known exactly how high the costs are here. Super followers can then, for example, access additional tweets, subscribe to a type of newsletter or join a special community group. To be honest, I don’t know why you should pay for such additional content, but there will certainly be enough motivation to plan and openly announce such a feature. I strongly suspect that this will quickly establish a payment barrier system, but let’s see. When you want to start with the new features, Twitter has not yet announced.
