On Sunday, December 12, 2021, there will be no trade ban and stores will be open. This is one of the two commercial Sundays leading up to Christmas. Sanitary rules and restrictions apply in the establishments.

Two Sundays before Christmas, no trade ban
From 2020, the trade ban will not apply only on seven Sundays a year. This year, the stores will be open on December 12 and 19, which is the two Sundays before Christmas.

Sanitary regime in stores
Masks covering the mouth and nose must be worn at all retail outlets. Shops are required to provide customers with disposable gloves and hand disinfectants when shopping. From December 1, a new limit of people will apply in retail outlets (1 person per 15 sq m).

The Polish Council of Shopping Centers ensures that retail outlets provide customers with disposable gloves and disinfectant liquid. It also appeals to buyers to follow the DDM principle – keeping a distance of about 1.5 meters from other people, frequent disinfection of hands and wearing the masks in the correct way, so that they cover the nose and mouth at the same time.

Ban on trading on Sundays – shops open
The act that introduced restrictions on Sunday trading has been in force since March 1, 2018. However, there is a catalog of 32 exemptions. The prohibition does not apply, among others in post offices.

This exception is cited by larger retail chains that decide to open stores on non-trading Sundays. At least for now, because from February 2022 it will come into force amendment of regulations to tighten the ban on Sunday trading.
