Summary of hare monitoring in Haute-Loire

For a very long time, the FDC 43 has been involved in monitoring hare populations. In the early 2000s, departmental monitoring using the spotlight sampling method with projector (EPP) was set up. Download the latest report on this work carried out by the FDC 43.

In 2016, Population Unit n ° 6 known as “Puy Emblavez Basin” became one of the thirty monitoring stations of the national Lièvre network. Among other things, a collection of hare eyes taken during the hunt is organized there by the FDC 43 in order to estimate each season the rate of young hares in the hunting charts and consequently, the success of reproduction.
