The second “Suito Kurawanka Fireworks Festival” was held in Hirakata City, Osaka on September 17th, with 4,704 fireworks dancing in the night sky. The Kurawanka Fireworks Festival, which was canceled in 2003 due to financial difficulties, was revived in 2022 for the first time in about 20 years, creating a buzz. Currently, there are about 80 people on the executive committee and about 300 volunteer staff.
The number of fireworks set off corresponds to the number of births in Hirakata and Takatsuki cities in the previous year, and this year there were 4,704 (2,408 in Hirakata and 2,296 in Takatsuki).
Last year, when it was revived, many people sat and watched along the embankment, so a 2m-high fence was installed this year to ease crowding. Prefectural Route 13 temporarily became a pedestrian paradise. Additionally, all paid viewing seats such as table seats for up to six people (40,000 yen per table) are sold out.
