The National Security Council met this Thursday to take stock of the epidemiological situation in Belgium. “No measure will put an end to the virus, we will have to wait for a vaccine,” Sophie Wilmès explained straight away during her press conference after the National Security Council.
“Today, we can speak of a stabilization trend, or even an improvement. The transmission rate is 0.9. This means that the virus is still circulating but less than before the new measures, ”she added.
Given the current situation, several decisions have been taken. One of them makes Marc Van Ranst talk. The virologist deplores indeed that no change has been announced concerning the wearing of the mask in Belgium. He asks that “general rules” be established.
“Such general rules remain necessary”, before Marc Van Ranst. He adds to VRT News: “Originally, we asked the mayors to indicate the busy shopping streets. This was sometimes interpreted very broadly. It would be a good improvement if it became clear to the whole country. I have no idea why these rules have not been put in place, ”he asks himself finally.
