Success with Wreckfest, SnowRunner and Metro; Saints Row 5 later; 118 games in development

According to the current one Annual report the Embracer Group (formerly THQ Nordic AB) generated the most revenue from January to March 2020 Darksiders Genesis, Metro Exodus: Sam’s Story (DLC) and Monster Energy Supercross 3 achieved.

Loud information from the Investor Conference, the Steam release of Metro Exodus and the DLC Sam’s Story brought in around EUR 14 million (January to March 2020). Since the start of sales, Metro Exodus has generated around EUR 58 million.

SnowRunner (Release in April) sells better than expected. In the first three weeks after the start of sales, almost the one million mark was broken, with a surprising number of Premium Editions (with Season Pass) being purchased by buyers. The share of sales on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One is somewhat equally distributed.-
World War Z has sold over three million copies. Also Wreckfest air well. The digital versions alone have been sold over a million times.

In the current business year (April 2020 to March 2021) Biomutant, Chorus, Deep Rock Galactic, Destroy All Humans!, Iron harvest, Moto GP 20, Ride 4, SnowRunner, Wasteland 3 and WWE2K Battlegrounds (with 2K games) ensure further growth.

Popular catalog titles (titles that were published in the previous financial year) include Darksiders, Dead Island, ELEX, Goat Simulator, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Metro, Monster Energy Supercross, MX vs ATV, Remnant: From the Ashes, Satisfactory, Saints Row, Wreckfest and World War Z.

After Saber Interactive was acquired, a total of 118 games are under development at the Embracer Group. 69 projects have not yet been announced. The company now has over 3,000 employees. A total of SEK 1.65 billion (approx. EUR 156 million) is available for further acquisitions.

The Embracer group has confirmed (rather casually) postponements of two major stocks. In the latest financial report, Lars Wingefors (Embracer CEO) said that plans have changed and that no major AAA game will be released this year. Actually there were two AAA titles planned. Wingefors said for the next fiscal year (April 2021 to Mar 2022) that they would expect sustained organic growth, driven by the first AAA game releases (caution: majority) after Metro Exodus. Which games are involved has not been mentioned. A title is likely to be Saints Row 5. The developers (Volition) had already confirmed that they were working on the project. The other game could be Dead Island 2. The Embracer Group is currently doubling its own development capacities and expects development costs and expenses to double in the next financial year.
