Subway train stuck in a flooded tunnel in Zhengzhou – Video

The Chinese city of Zhengzhou is experiencing an unprecedented natural disaster due to torrential rains. Today, more than 200 liters of water per square meter fell in one hour, reports the BBC. The entire subway system was paralyzed, and one of the trains was blocked in a tunnel until the water reached the chests of the passengers in the carriages. The rescue operation began around 20:30 local time and more than 300 people were taken out, but it is not clear how many remain.

The city is in Henan Province (94 million inhabitants), where torrential rains have affected a dozen cities in recent days. More than 10,000 people have been evacuated since July 16, and rain is expected to continue for another 24 hours. Some highways have been closed and flights have been canceled.
