“Sub Scriptum” releases a joint song with Ukrainian singer Anastasia Vasilenko

Latvian group “Sub Scriptum” and Ukrainian singer Anastasia Vasilenko have published a joint song “Ziyde Sonce” and its video.

The musicians met during the third Osokin Freedom Festival in Ukraine, creating joint songs for the closing concert of the festival, which was attended by many newly formed associations of Latvian and Ukrainian musicians. The collaboration between Sub Scriptum and Anastasia Vasilenko was so successful that it was decided to develop and continue it. “We are actively involved in various support concerts and projects in Ukraine, because music is our biggest weapon to express support to Ukrainians. With this achievement, we want to show our position that there is no place for war and cruelty in the 21st century. Music is the best language in the world – that’s how we started working with Anastasia, and they have united us all this time, “says Kristers Rudzitis, the leader of Sub Scriptum.

The first version of “Ziyde Sonce” entitled “It Happens at Night” can be found in the album “Sub Scriptum” 21. gs. mode ”(2020).

The new song is in Latvian and Ukrainian, with music and lyrics by Kristers Rudzitis and Anastasia Vasilenko. “With this song we want to support the Ukrainians, to tell them that all the horrors that are happening in Ukraine will end soon and the sun will rise again. That’s why the song I created in Ukrainian also starts with the words “I want to believe that the wind will calm down and the sun will rise.” I am very happy to work with “Sub Scriptum” – it brings together not only very talented musicians with a soloist, Christer, who writes deep and beautiful music, but also wonderful people. All this time, they have wholeheartedly supported me and Ukraine, ”says Anastasia Vasilenko.

It should be noted that several festivals and concerts with the participation of “Sub Scriptum” are coming soon, in which the song “Ziyde Sonce” will be performed together with Anastasia. “Sub Scriptum also invites other Latvian musicians to form various collaborations with Ukrainian artists, as their culture is currently under threat and it is important to give musicians who have taken refuge in Latvia the opportunity to continue playing,” the group’s PR camp calls. The next concerts of the group are expected on July 9 at the Gypsy Camp in Liepaja, on July 23 at the Sigulda Castle Pavilion and on July 29 at the Summer Sound 2022 festival.
