Luis Suárez was tested positive for the corona virus during the training camp of the Uruguayan national team. The 33-year-old attacker of Atlético Madrid therefore seems to be unable to play against FC Barcelona this weekend.
The duel with Barça would be a spicy reunion for Suárez with the club for which he played between 2014 and 2020. Last summer, the top scorer left for Madrid, because he was no longer needed at Camp Nou.
Suárez’s participation in the World Cup qualifying match with Brazil next Wednesday will probably also lead to a line. Last Friday he was accurate in a 3-0 victory over Colombia.
In addition to Suárez, goalkeeper Rodrigo Muñoz has also been tested positive. Both players have been quarantined pending the outcome of a second test.
