Many people suffer from some kind of psychological disorder or depression, due to the frequent exposure to negative news throughout the day through social networking sites, where one of the most important negative news is news of deaths, due to the high number of deaths due to the Corona virus, or other reasons The other, where people live in a vacuum that keeps them focused with negative news.

The website “Pathology Today” published the effects of exposure to hearing news of death on the psychological state.

A recent survey by the American Psychological Association found that “the consumption of bad news has a negative side to the psychological state”, with more than half of Americans saying that death news is causing them stress, and many indicate feeling anxious, tired, and losing sleep as a result.

Graham Davy, honorary professor of psychology at the University of Sussex in the UK and editor of Time Magazine for Psychology, said: “Of course many people feel it is important to stay informed, and it is known that the news you find may lead to stress and anxiety, but The recent changes in the way everyone gets their news, and greatly pumped it throughout the day along with the prevailing news style today due to fear of the Coronavirus, may not be good for mental and even physical health. “

The psychology professor continued that the way news was presented has changed dramatically over the past 15 to 20 years, and these changes have often been detrimental to public mental health.

Davy added that today’s news now includes video clips and audio clips, through social media pages, which we have been circulating daily, which instead of knowing the news of the death only, can also see the circumstances of the death and its method.

This media that passers-by can capture can be so severe that it can cause symptoms of acute stress, such as sleep problems, mood swings, aggressive behavior, or even PTSD.

And the psychology professor did some research that showed that negative TV news changed the mood significantly, and that the mood that tends to produce is sadness and anxiety, “the study showed that this change in mood shows the viewer’s personal fears even when these concerns are not directly related to it “.

Research has shown that frequent exposure to negative news and watching news of death throughout the day leads to increased anxiety, stress and other mental illnesses that can feed physical diseases as well, as it is one of the causes of rheumatoid arthritis, cardiovascular disease and other serious health problems.

Davy stressed that everyone knows the danger of being constantly exposed to negative news, but they continue to watch it because it is just fun.

“The human brain is attracted to annoying information because it is programmed to discover threats, not to overlook it, and this can make it difficult to ignore negatives and search for positives,” explains Loretta Bruning, a former professor of management at California State University.
