“It was a bit of a shock when we heard that a student of group 3 of our Beatrixschool has the coronavirus,” says Jaap van der Put, director of the Schools of Orange in Dordrecht. “Fortunately, all her complaints have already disappeared.”

“It is not just something on television, it also happens in real life”, Van der Put realizes all too well. But the director of four Christian primary schools in Dordrecht is not afraid. “The infection was diagnosed last Wednesday and then immediately all her classmates and the teachers were informed. But no one has been tested yet, because so far no one has any complaints.”
Minor complaints
The infected pupil’s complaints consisted of mild elevation, cough and cold. “But luckily she is already feeling better and the rest of her family is all right.” The whole family is in home quarantine for two weeks.
Van der Put: “There was rapid action, because her mother works in healthcare, so she is extra alert. She did not trust the mild symptoms and was therefore right.”
Just go to school
The class of the infected girl, group 3, goes back to school on Tuesday. “And all parents just let their kids go,” says Van der Put.
All other Beatrixschool parents were informed on Monday. “But the classes have no contact with each other at school, so the chance of mutual contamination seems very small.”
