Strike notice at Brussels Airlines: “No intention to punish travelers” | To travel

The common trade union front has sent a strike notice to the management of Brussels Airlines. That’s what the unions say. A reconciliation talk about the workload among cabin crew broke off last week. “However, it is not the intention to punish the travelers,” said Olivier Van Camp of the socialist trade union.

The notice is valid for an indefinite period of time. The company had previously proposed 20 recruitments, but that is not enough for the unions to relieve the workload. Consultations last Thursday yielded nothing.

“The management categorically refuses to negotiate structural solutions to improve the collective labor agreements imposed by Lufthansa in 2020,” it said in a statement from the joint trade union front. “The unions and their representatives will now inform the staff. They have been under pressure since the beginning of the summer, after a long period of economic unemployment. As a result, their purchasing power has fallen drastically.”

From 26 August

Only after consulting the supporters will it become clear whether and which actions will be taken. A strike is possible, although that is not the preference of the unions. Any promotions are only possible from 26 August. “It is not the intention to punish the travelers,” said Olivier Van Camp of the socialist trade union.

“We can only regret this situation and ask Lufthansa, which is solely responsible for this situation, to take responsibility. We need to listen more and show respect for Brussels Airlines staff,” said the unions.

The management of Brussels Airlines has already announced that it will continue to strive for consultation in order to find solutions. She condemns “any social action that could harm customers and affect the workload of other staff members.” “The financial stability of the company should not be endangered either,” it sounds.
