strike at the Giraud college in Bastia

“Today 100% of the teachers followed the strike order and there was no class” emphasizes Pascal Pulicani, professor and SNALC representative, National Syndicate of High Schools and Colleges, in the establishment. ” We are gathered in front of the establishment to protest against the suppression of a class of 6th at the start of the 2022/2023 school year. From 5 classes of 6th we are going to go to 4. For us this decision is unjustified. The rectorate, which provides for 114 students from 6th at the start of the next school year, it has decided to abolish this 5th class. However, the forecasts made always turn out to be false because at each start of the school year we welcome the overflow from the other establishments. Thus in 2019, the forecasts were for 119 pupils in 6th, the reality was 147 students! Each year, the establishment observes an overall increase in the number of staff. In 2017/2018 we had 502 students, in this year 2021/2022, they are 596. Today we are therefore asking for the return of this 5th class of 6th and also the opening of classes of 4th and 3th. »
The movement was suspended at the end of the afternoon pending the result of a videoconference meeting between representatives of the college and the rectorate this Wednesday.
The outcome of this meeting will depend on the rest of the movement but, already, a strike notice has been filed for June 30 and July 1, dates of the college certificate, Giraud being the examination center.
