Jan Streuer is busy in his first period as technical director of FC Twente. Streuer has to compile an almost completely new selection and has to do without head scout Evert Bleuming, who was fired last week.
“Yes, it has become a lot busier after the dismissal of Bleuming,” Streuer says in conversation with RTV East. “And I didn’t know it was going to happen either. It was that layoffs would follow, but not that scouting would be cut. I’d rather have three or four than zero like now.”
Also for Bleuming his resignation came quite unexpectedly. He previously spoke of ‘a knife in his backby FC Twente. He wondered if Streuer and Jans knew of his dismissal. Bleuming already thought they knew nothing and that is now confirmed by Streuer, who has not got angry.
“I also understand that the clubs are in a very difficult situation and will suffer a lot of losses. There is a chance that clubs will disappear and of course a club like FC Twente should not be included. But we were unpleasantly surprised”, Streuer, who has already completed the lists. “It is an advantage that we know more or less which way we want to go.”
