Street singer Fawzia speaks out against false propaganda spreading through social media

Street singer Fawzia says that they are trying to humiliate her by spreading false propaganda through social media. The footage of a 10th class student named Fausiya Pattave Athira singing on the street in Malappuram Edakkara was circulating on social media. Later, many people came to congratulate Athira. The school authorities have also come forward with a promise to provide a house to Athira and her family who are living in a rented house. But Fauzia says that Athira did not buy the mic to help her but asked for an opportunity. In a press conference held at the Malappuram press club, Fauzia said that after the video footage of Athira came out, many people were portraying him in a bad way and that he was not a bedridden patient.

‘My child and I live by singing songs on the street. When we went to Pothukall market with the song van, a girl named Athira came and asked for an opportunity to sing the song and the video of it went viral. Usually many people ask for such opportunities. That’s how the boy sang. But many people are sharing the video spreading wrong information about me. The news is spreading that I sang for medical help and when I got tired of singing, Athira came and helped me.

‘Now mummy go and drink tea’; Athira bought the street singer’s mic, ‘This is a Kerala story’; The note went viral

No one asked what I was or what my family background was. I don’t say anything through the mic except that I sing as a way of life. I was victimized by some to make that boy viral. My husband is blind, I am bedridden and I am singing on the streets with my baby in my arms, it is being spread in the social media. They portray me as a big patient. But all that is untrue. My husband can see. The child is 4 years old. I am not bedridden.

Some online media are trying to spread false information. I have not received any help because of Athira going viral. After the video went viral, I have no complaints about others helping the boy. But there are complaints about spreading bad news about me. I don’t like to talk about my situation. “Some media outlets threatened me when I asked them to correct it and replace it with Athira,” Fauzia said.
