In England, reigning champion Manchester City will not play on Sunday. The team would play in the Premier League against West Ham United at 5:30 PM, but that game was canceled.
“We do this in view of the extreme and escalating weather conditions,” the club says in a short statement. “We do not want to jeopardize the safety of supporters and staff.”
In Germany, the match between Borussia Mönchengladbach and 1. FC Köln has been withdrawn from the program due to the storm, which is called Sabine. That match in the Bundesliga would start at 3:30 PM.
“The meteorologists do not expect any problems with the storm before and during the race, but that may be different at the end of the race,” the home team reports. “Sabine travels through the region around that time. Therefore we cannot guarantee safety.”
No catch-up date is yet known for both games.
