The top international performance at the athletics indoor meeting on Saturday in the Ferry Dusika Stadium was achieved by British rider Keely Hodgkinson over 800 m in the U20 world record of 1: 59.03 minutes. In the still young season that was as well as annual world best performance as the 50.96 seconds of Femke Bol (NED) over 400 m and the 3: 37.55 minutes of Istvan Szögi (HUN) over 1,500 m Markus Fuchs set the limit for the European Indoor Championships in Torun twice in March.
Karin Strametz won the two rounds over 60 m hurdles in 8.20 and 8.24 seconds respectively and improved the annual record set by Beate Schrott in Karlsruhe the day before (8.22). “I’m glad that the times at the start of the season are so good,” said Strametz. Fuchs ran the 60 m in 6.75 and 6.73 seconds respectively, it won the European indoor champion Jan Volko from Slovakia in 6.68. All-rounder Sarah Lagger won the long jump with 5.98 m.
Magdalena Lindner missed the European Championship limit by just 0.03 seconds over 60 m in 7.43 seconds, Alexandra Toth started the season with 7.51.
