Freddie is a kindergarten teacher in Constance. As Juliana works as a doctor in Zurich, Freddie takes care of their children Zoe and Nicholas on a daily basis. Both Freddie and Juliana have the opportunity to advance in their careers, but this puts a strain on their relationship. When, after 18 years of absence, Freddie’s father, Fritz, suddenly appears at the door, and at the same time it is revealed that Zoe is stealing clothes from stores, Freddie’s previously happy life threatens to collapse.
